Biography
Ming-Jer Chen received Ph.D. degree in electronics engineering in 1985 from National Chiao-Tung University (NCTU), Taiwan. In 1985 he joined the faculty of the Department of Electronics Engineering, NCTU, and became Full Professor in 1993. From 1987 to 1992, he was a principal consultant to TSMC, where he led a team from NCTU and ERSO/ITRI to build up a series of process windows and design rules. He has been granted 8 U.S patents and 6 Taiwanese patents covering the high-precision analog capacitor, Dynamic threshold MOSFET, 1-T SRAM cell, ESD protection, and Flash memory. From 2000 to 2001 academic year, he was a Visiting Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Center for Integrated Systems, Stanford University, Stanford, CA. His research interests have long focused on the device physics and currently on nanoscale electronics. So far, He has graduated 21 Ph.D. students and more than 100 Master students. Dr. Chen is a member of Phi Tau Phi.
